Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) graduates think critically, creatively and ethically to solve problems and are culturally and globally aware. They have research and design skills and can work both autonomously and with others. Students develop the technical and communication skills, professional values and behaviours, and ethical practice required by Architecture. Design studios are central to the Architecture program. The studios provide the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge developed in cultural and technical theory in the design of built environments. In upper year levels, students may undertake specialised learning that complements their professional and/or personal interests. Engagement with our practice partners and field work opportunities enable students to apply knowledge and skills and to hone work-ready aptitudes. By completing six electives, which may be used to form a Minor, students also gain theoretical and practical knowledge of the principles and concepts of other disciplines or practice areas, opening up opportunities within traditional and non-traditional career pathways. Students can also take advantage of short and long-term international learning opportunities through the Experience the World and Study Abroad programs. Architecture graduates are ethically, socially and environmentally responsible, and are well-placed to make a life-long contribution to the intellectual, cultural and civic life of communities.
